For Myrtle Beach, Memorial Day weekend means a surge in tourists and outdoor activities. For Myrtle Beach Police, it means a surge in 911 calls and arrests.

This year, the Myrtle Beach Police Department (MBPD) fielded thousands of calls and handed down hundreds of tickets and arrests. As reported by MBPD, officers responded to 2,291 calls for service over Memorial Day weekend 2026.

The bulk of those calls (1,598) were self-initiated by police, who ramped up their efforts in response to the annual spike in both visitors and revelry.

The 851 citations and 394 arrests included:

  • 11 DUI arrests
  • 140 drug charges
  • 76 open container violations involving vehicles

Myrtle Beach Police also confiscated 21 firearms over the course of the holiday weekend.

"These numbers reflect the continued hard work, visibility, and dedication of our officers and partner agencies during one of the busiest weekends of the year," MBPD said in a statement.
