Mica Miller’s Story Continues To Inspire Change One Year After Her Death

It's been one year since Mica Miller tragically died at Lumber River State Park in Robeson County. But for the Myrtle Beach community who knew her personally, so much has changed during that time.
Miller was the wife of South Carolina pastor John-Paul Miller. She was found dead from a gunshot wound at the age of 30. Her death was officially ruled a suicide after much scandal and speculation.
Her story and her tragic passing sparked conversations about domestic abuse, mental health, and so much more. Just a few weeks after her passing, hundreds gathered outside of Solid Rock Church in Market Common in a demonstration for the "Justice for Mica" movement.
"I came out today to support her, to support her family, to support her story," one person stated. "Because her story is important, and it needs to be told."
One year later, a similar demonstration is scheduled to take place near the Solid Rock Church, which has since closed down following Mica's death. The conversation that her death sparked is far from over.
